The dancing Six Lilies have been inspired by Imogen Cunningham's flower photography with its focus on the sculptural shape of the plants, and the iconic paintings of irises by Georgia O'Keeffe. "When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment," Georgia O'Keeffe said. "I want to give that world to someone else." Her close-up views of flowers, bordering on abstraction invited viewers to slow down and enjoy the process of careful observation. White lilies symbolize rebirth and purity. These six semi-synthetic flowers engage in an elegant dance that approaches abstraction before returning to their initial youthful starting point, completing the cycle of rebirth. The ancient symbolism and neo-classical soundtrack of their dance contrast with the artificial nature of the plants, marking a moment where humanity reflects on centuries of tradition and looks ahead to an uncertain future characterized by profound changes brought about by highly disruptive new technologies in all aspects of our lives.
