A synthetic octopus is gracefully dancing over a grid of colors, reminiscent of flower beds or the window panes of a hothouse where new species are bred. The neo-classical music creates a stark contrast with the peculiar, futuristic appearance of the dancing shape.
The octopus has been generated by a fractal formula. Fractals are shapes that can be found throughout nature: galaxies, meandering rivers, and many plants are based on this peculiar, fundamental principle that permeates the universe. This gives the octopus its eerie, realistic character—although it is entirely synthetic, morphing between a mineral shape and a living creature.
